Buxton Wild Weeks is a project that connects children and young people with nature. It includes an annual summer programme of school activities to inspire children to love local nature and wildlife and to learn to care about it. Over the last 3 summers there has been a programme of Buxton Wild Weeks taking place in our Buxton Primary Schools during May and June.
In 2021 Buxton Wild Weeks was launched through a partnership led by South West Peak Landscape Partnership with Transition Buxton and Buxton Civic Association. The following year Transition Buxton assumed responsibility for Buxton Wild Weeks so that the project could continue. In 2023 the National Lottery Heritage Fund gave a grant to support Buxton Wild Weeks.
Winter Wild Weeks – Conservation Activities
As well as enjoying and appreciating nature, Wild Weeks is about looking after our wildlife and their habitats. Over winter, activities are taking place to restore ponds and to plant trees. Contact education@transitionbuxton.co.uk if you would like to get involved.
Buxton Wild Weeks encourages local children and families to take part in local and national projects. The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch takes place end of January and we would love you to take part in this.
On Thursday 22nd February join Buxton Wild Weeks for fun activities about Night Wildlife and Hibernating Animals when we link up with @BuxtonCrescentHeritageTrust for their Assembly Room Family activities.
